"Killers" Movie Review

Taking vacation with your parents in France?  Horrible.  Meeting Mr. Right on that same vacation?  Well worth every minute. Marrying Mr. Right shortly after meeting him?  Fairytale come true. Learning your Mr. Right is a killer? Priceless.

Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl) and Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher) are the perfect couple. So in love, so very happy, until Jen comes home early from a business trip only to find her true love in a brawl with neighbor and friend. This isn’t an ordinary brawl, but two men literally in an attempt to kill each other. Mr. Right turns out to be a spy who has killed in the past and will probably kill again. Spencer tries to explain his predicament to his wife, although it seems she is ready to kill him herself.

Spencer had been out of the business of killing and spying for the three years he and Jen had been married, however, it seems various friends and neighbors had been set up to fulfill the contract out on his head. Every corner he turns, someone is out to get him.

Jen gets involved with the life and death game at this point, indecisive as to staying married to the spy and killer, Mr. Right, or divorce him and wish him well. During a chase scene, they stop at Spencer’s office to figure out some things and Jen decides it would be a good time to use a pregnancy test she and Spence have picked up. While she’s on the toilet trying to pee on a stick, her eradicating hubby is trying to kill his assistant.

Killers is a must see, especially for those that enjoy watching action comedies. The alcoholic mother (Catherine O’Hara) and father (Tom Selleck) really add to the mix of comical personalities. The cast did a phenomenal job. The script was written well. Definitely a comedy on the darker side with all the snuffing out of people, but worth every 93 minutes of it!

Kutcher showed focus and wonderful acting in his role, as a softness showed in his eyes when speaking to his wife, however a genuine creepiness overcame him when in killing mode. Tom Selleck played his part with true ability shining through, as Jen’s father. A little covertness went a long way playing the part of Mr. Kornfeldt. It genuinely leaves one wondering. Well written, well acted, and a good team together. Believable characters, funny lines, and genuine talent make for good comedy.
