Kid friendly restaurant in Reno, NV

Remember the days you could say to your fiance or your friends or your imaginary pet labradoodle “hey let’s go out to eat” and then you just went out to eat? Simple as that.

Sure maybe you needed to wait in the occasional line for a great breakfast place or you had to make a reservation for the hip new tapas bar, but mostly there were no worries and no constraints (except budgetary and digestion related ones.)

Having kids changes all of that and suddenly a whole new set of criteria is applied when determining what is a great place to eat. Like is there a changing table in the bathroom? And an understanding wait staff? A great kids menu?

Hopefully this series on Kid Friendly Restaurants in Reno will help a frazzled parent (or two) find the perfect place to grab a bite with a toddler in tow.

The review will consist of the basics:
What-the eatery in question,
Where-the address of the eatery
When-the time of day the visit occurred
Why-the food ordered
Awesome Sauce-the awesome extras that make this place particularly kid friendly
Stink Eye- the not so great things about it, including the attitude of the staff and patrons towards children

First up, Qdoba Mexican Grill...

What: Qdoba Mexican Grill
Where: 195 Damonte Ranch Park Reno, NV 89521
When: post lunch time peak (like 1ish?) on January 24th, 2012
Why: naked burrito with chicken (black beans, no cheese or sour cream, added guacomole) and a naked veggie burrito to go (for dad)
Awesome Sauce: the staff is very friendly and engaging with my daughter, there are lots of great kids menu options and best of all kids eat free on Sundays! (with the purchase of an adult entree at regular price), the food is tasty and toddler approved!
Stink Eye: there are no changing tables in the bathroom, only ‘to go’ plastic packaging available as opposed to real plates and silverware, there are cookies prominently featured at checkout which is tough if you are trying to avoid those “I want cookie” battles.

That's it for this time...
