The latest CD titled New York Conversations from Kendra Shank & John Stowell provides intimate ballads, swing and sultry and sensous samba. This album has a little bit of everything for those of us who like variety. Shank provides the vocals and Stowell plays the guitar. Together they provide the perfect blend of jazz harmony and instrumental. Kendra Shank sings with a sexy and sultry style on the songs: Blue Skyes, Throop and Hard Travelin/Motherless Child.

John Stowell is a fine guitarist and he gives the album continuity. he has played with the likes of Richie Cole, Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson and Art Farmer. He has solid credentials and he puts in the work on this album indeed. There are 15 songs on the disc and some are short like Glad Mango and Rush Hour which Shank scats her way through. Two of the songs go way back including Irving Berlin's Blue Skyes and the Rodgers and Hart tune My Romance.

I think this CD is a smash and kudos go out to Kendra Shank & John Stowell for giving us this fine piece of music. The duo are on tour right now and they will be in the Los Angeles area on April 18, 2014 at Vitello's in Studio City.
