Cut two eyeholes into a bedsheet and BOO! You’ve got yourself a classic Halloween icon. But what happens if you tie the bedsheet in knots? What happens when you set it on fire, hang it from a clothesline, or put a llama underneath it? 100 Ghosts is a brilliantly simple artistic exploration of an icon as familiar as a grinning jack-o-lantern or an arched black cat. It’s a delightful gift for adults, kids, and anyone who enjoys spooky design.
'100 Ghosts' is more adorable than "spooky." It has a sweet, sometimes ironic charm and would make a great Halloween read. We tend to spend Halloween screaming instead of laughing, but '100 Ghosts' lets us enjoy a little Halloween humor. This is the perfect book to pick up if you need something to smile at. Highlights include an R2-D2 ghost, a llama ghost, a performance artist ghost, ghosts in amusing situations and pop culture icons turned into ghosts.
The ghosts are harmless and charming. This book of cartoon ghosts would make a cute present for a child, but only adults would be able to fully appreciate the pop culture references and humor. Towards the end of the book, Horner includes a step-by-step for drawing your own "Classic" ghost. If you can get the Classic down, the possibilities are endless. Doogie Horner drew a hundred different bedsheet ghosts; can you add some of your own?
Whatever your age, '100 Ghosts: A Gallery of Harmless Haunts' will have a ghost to make you smile, perhaps even laugh -- instead of running away screaming. Certainly don't run away screaming from this book.
