The Mountaintop at GableStage

Florida can climb to The Mountaintop to see the long life and longevity of Martin Luther King's Civil Right Movement. C. Anthony Jackson plays Martin Luther King in GableStage production of the recent Broadway hit play, The Mountaintop but it is Carbonell Award nominated actress Karen Stephens role as Camae that brings King's legacy back to life. The book by Katori Hall gives Karen's role reason to shine by reflecting or symbolizing a realistic look at The Civil Rights Movement. If we were to see an average worker speak to Dr. King the night before his murder.. maybe we could see Matrin Luther King's legacy in a very special way. "The promise land has never been so close, The Mountaintop is a must see now at GableStage. Why, because mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!" BroadwayGlobal.

The play takes many liberties, while sharing some detail on King's life. For those of you who saw Karen Stephens performance in Maltz Jupiter Theatre's production of Doubt, you have seen Stephen's diversity playing a conservative black mother that would do anything to see her son make it through school. But The Mountaintop role of a maid takes on a very earthy character, a less educated role of a woman that has street sense and gifted foul mouth. Karen Stephen's three dimensional role puts a human face to this iconic story.

The Mountaintop takes you to the peak and drops you in the imaginary world of what if... The acting is superb, the set with real rain outside the motel is outstanding, and the direction by Joe Adler once again takes center stage. The Mountaintop is a Theatre Chat top pick for South Florida plays this season. For tickets to The Mountaintop visit or call 305-445-1119.

"Newsies" still has the best choreography in years, while "After Midnight" has Best Orchestrations and 2014 Best Choreography. "Matilda" has Broadway queen, Lesli Margherita. "Kinky Boots" Billy Porter should we say more! "Motown" offers the most hits ever in history of Broadway. "Rocky" gives you Broadway's biggest ending and love does win. Andy Karl and Margo Seibert may have to fight for best Broadway couple with "The Bridges of Madison County", but it's a knock down hit musical for Broadway "Rocky" finale! If you are trying to save a few dollars, or see a few shows, don't miss Broadway Global's off-Broadway top musical comedy of the season Seth Rudetsky's "Disaster".
