New restaurants pop up in Arlington all the time. Most are pretty flashy, with already well-known chefs, chic interiors and much fanfare surrounding news of their openings.
More telling of a restaurant's success, however, is it's under-the-radar fame, those with loyal patrons and simple, good food that makes a reputation for itself. Those establishments are much more rare and Kabob Palace in Crystal City is the perfect example.
Kabob Palace is the kind of place you hear about from word of mouth, personal recommendations from friends that have lived in Arlington for a while and not through Twitter trends. The interior is gaudily decorated, with large plastic signs and old paintings but the food is what makes people come back.
The kabobs are obviously the star here, with juicy and flavorful proteins of chicken, lamb and beef, while the famous chickpeas take the lead in terms of sides. Portions are more than generous and the fare is available 24 hours a day.
