K’s Internet Cafe, at 2002 Center Street between Milvia and Shattuck Avenue, is a small, cozy cafe nestled in right next to Berkeley City College. They don’t quite have the coffee draw like Local 123 or the space and atmosphere like Cafe Milano – but they know their strengths and with those K’s Internet Cafe works well.
They are a prime Internet and Wi-fi location, providing an excellent connection and plenty of outlets for laptop customers to plug in. The cafe, knowing its proximity to the city college, also can move quickly through lines of students waiting for a coffee or a snack before rushing to class.
The coffee is nothing fancy, but solid and smooth tasting, and great to sip on while catching up with the news from their flatscreen television. There’s a huge selection of snacks and food, from breakfast burritos to bagels to pastries to sandwiches. Try the asiago bagel, a rarity in Berkeley cafes and absolutely delicious.
K’s Internet Cafe works well with the space it has, with ample seating, a couple of counter spaces and tables with room to spread out some work. The atmosphere is friendly but straightforwards - the service is quick to move through the large rushes of people. They are open into the evening on weekdays, typically until 9, but close much earlier in the afternoon on weekends.
