The Sun Is Shining Down cover by Just Joe & Evan Lipton

Syracuse’s busiest musician, at least it seems that way, “Just Joe’ Altier has teamed up with saxophonist Evan Lipton to release a cover song by JJ Grey & Mofro titled ‘The Sun Is Shining Down’. The single will be included on Lipton’s upcoming CD “Karmic Shift” due out this Dec. 19th.

New daddy Joe has certainly come miles from his early days with Brand New Sin and redefined himself and his voice along with his keyboard skills. Personally, whenever I am in an area and see that Joe is playing nearby and I can get there, I do. He is simply that talented. That’s saying something from a guy who likes to pick on the cover bands a bit and prefers the distorted guitars cranked to 10. Joe however has proven more than able to do that as well but it is his one-man performances on his keys belting away a rather large library of tunes and his incredibly strong and soulful voice that stick out. You can’t help but stop and listen.

Lipton displays some serious talent on the sax on this single and has me looking ahead to “Karmic Shift.” Clean tones that harmonize with the keys during his solo had me remembering my old friend Paulie Cerra immediately.
