One of the more eagerly anticipated traditions of the Chicago holiday season is currently lighting up the stage at the Auditorium Theater. The Joffrey Ballet’s 2013 production of Nutcracker dazzles with exquisite dancing and choreography, beautiful costumes, enthralling music, stunning scenery, and dazzling lighting.
The Joffrey dancers are, as always, pure joy to watch, and the children in this Christmas production are delightful. Alternating between mesmerizing beauty and comedic episodes, this ballet entertains and enthralls the audience and will put anyone in the Christmas spirit.
Adding to the magic is the live performance of Tchaikovsky’s familiar and stunning musical score by Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra.
Nutcracker will continue through December 28 at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Parkway, in Chicago. Tickets range from $31-132 and can be purchased at the theater’s box office in person or by phone (800-982.ARTS (2787)) or through the Joffrey Ballet website.
If you’re coming from the suburbs or farther and want to stay overnight in the city, JW Marriott Chicago is offering its “A Night at the Ballet” package.
