Jersey Boys has returned to Philadelphia again this year and this year’s cast is incredible. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This is the story of how a group of blue-collar boys from New Jersey became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty. The cast of this production is impressive. The talent is spectacular and the spot-on singing, live musicians, set design and costumes transport the audience directly into the storyline. The show is extremely entertaining. People around me were singing, tapping their feet and during intermission everyone was sharing among their theater neighbors how well casted the performers were and how good the show was. The Forrest Theater is a great venue for this show. It’s a gem in Philadelphia’s theater world. The show is in town through January 5, 2014.
Tickets for the show start at $40. My advice – splurge for orchestra seats, it is money well spent. It’s holiday time; grab a pre- or post-dinner meal at one of Philadelphia’s great restaurants. I opted for the Caribou Cafe two doors down and had a delightful meal.
