Oh What a Night – Jersey Boys now in Philadelphia
I can’t remember a show that I was more excited to see than Jersey Boys. Not only do I love the music of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, but everyone that I know that had seen the show told me, “You HAVE to see it!” Well, last night, I saw it and I love it - it truly isToo Good To Be True!
The storyline chronicles the early roots of the musicians in New Jersey and then follows the band’s success through two decades. We learn about how the band was formed, the trials and tribulations of life of the road, and the personal struggles and successes of the men.
The talent of the ensemble cast is amazing. The musical direction is top-notch. The four Jersey Boys – Matt Bailey (Tommy DeVito), Joseph Leo Bwarie (Frankie Valli), Steve Gouveia (Nick Massi), and Quinn VanAntwerp (Bob Gaudio) all give impressive performances reaching notes effectively and adding their own on-target nuances to classic songs. The musical score, the snappy dialogue and amazing performances make this show a winner!
Many of the songs will be familiar, while a few may be less so. During this performance hands were clapping, fans were on their feet and many people said they were coming back again during the show’s run – including me!
