Jennifer Dawson's Take A Chance On Me

Romance Book

We all want to find the one that is right for us. That is what Maddie is looking for in 'Take A Chance On Me'. A 28 year old runaway bride, leaving back a past and relationship in Chicago that wasn't right for her, that didn't let her grow into the woman she was meant to be. She goes to Revival where she meets a handsome bar owner, Mitch who shows her what she was missing out on all of these years. The book is full of steamy romance and characters that you will remember long after.

Jennifer Dawson's new romance novel 'Take A Chance On Me' is coming out this Tuesday, February 4, 2014 everywhere. Come see her at Lady Jane Salon at 7pm in Naperville, Illinois where Jennifer will be doing a book reading and signing. It is part of her 'Something New' series published by Kensington Books. I had the pleasure of talking to Jennifer about 'Take A Chance On Me'.

CM: Hi Jennifer! It's great to talk with you on your first novel. What made you decide to become a writer?

Jennifer: I didn't start writing until my late thirties. I was bored and kept having these recurring characters in my head, so I decided one day to write about them and it was love at first sight. It is everything I have ever wanted in a career.

CM: Why romance novels?

Jennifer: I have read romance novels for as long as I can remember. I remember stealing romance novels from my mom and reading them when I was in sixth grade. Romance has always been a love of mine even though I may have been too young to be reading them. There was never a question in my mind whether or not to write romance. Those are the stories that always come to me.

CM: How would you describe the theme of this book?

Jennifer: The story is about two people who are lost and by coming together they discover that being together let's them figure out who they are as people. Basically being found again and who they are supposed to be even though their lives get sidetracked by events that are beyond their control. All the best relationships are where the other person makes you your best self. That is the relationship between Mitch and Maddie.

CM: There are a lot of steamy scenes in your book that can compete with 50 Shades of Grey.

Jennifer: (Laughs) I have always liked books with a lot of sexual tension in them. I think it's more interesting than having casual relationships. Mitch and Maddie definitely have chemistry between them.

CM: Maddie is trying to find herself. What made you come up with the idea for her character?

Jennifer: I think all women can relate to Maddie's character because they are all defined by the roles they play in their lives verses who they really are. They become a mother, wife, girlfriend, or who they are at work. It's easy to get lost behind the role they are given. Maddie has to find out who she is, that is the idea behind her character.

CM: Mitch is an interesting character coming from a prestigious family with some scandals going on. Will you build upon the family's characters in upcoming novels?

Jennifer: Yes, the idea of Mitch is based on him being the golden child who was always handed everything in life and then he crashed and burned. In the upcoming novels we will go more into the characters of Maddie's brother Shane, and Mitch's sister Cecila, as well as how Maddie's father influenced her family.

CM: You are having an upcoming book reading and signing on the day of the release?

Jennifer: Yes, this Tuesday, Feb. 4th at Lady Jane Salon in Naperville, IL I will be doing a little reading and book signing along with a few other authors.

CM: Well, thank you Jennifer for sharing some more about your book and about yourself. I loved the book. I know your readers will love it too. Anyone who loves romance will love it.

Jennifer: Thank you. It was great speaking with you. I hope everyone enjoys the book.
