Last Sunday night “The Dude” himself Jeff Bridges and The Abiders played the Grove Of Anaheim with Bridge’s daughter Jessie as the support act. Bridges is best known for his acting career and his lead roles in “The Big Lebowski,” “True Grit,” “Crazy Heart.” Bridges acting career spans over 5 decades and he’s done a number of Western films so it’s fitting he’s a country artist. Bridges debut album “Be Here Soon” came out in 2000 and his 2nd and most recent album, which is self-titled, came out in 2011. Jesse Bridges opened as an acoustic duo with her guitar player Gabe, son of The Abider’s drummer Tom Lackner. Jessie Bridges played for 30 minutes. Her set included a cover of Bruno Mars “Locked Out Of Heaven” and songs from her debut album “Let It Breathe which was released just 3 weeks earlier.” Jessie Bridges is definitely worth checking out and is a great artist in her own right. There was an intermission and Jessie came out to the merchandise table to sign cds and talk to fans which she did after the show as well.
Jeff Bridges and the Abiders took the stage after 9 P.M. and played for 90 minutes. Bridges set included movie tracks, originals, and covers. As an actor Bridges is one of the greatest, and as an artist he is great as well. However you don’t have to be a country or western fan to enjoy the show since it is mixed in with some rock elements. There was a part of the show when Bridges' brother Beau recited a story that made the crowd laugh. It was certainly a family event. A few songs came from the movie “Crazy Heart” At the end of the show Jesse Bridges came out to sing. The Abiders are a great backing band and are all great musicians. If you're a Jeff Bridges fan or like country this is a great show to see.
