Being an Iranian-American Muslim you run into situations where you need to find Halal food and more specifically "Chelo Kabab", but it is not that easy to find the combination of both "Halal" and "Iranian Chelo Kabab" all the time, because not all the Iranians in the USA are Muslim who can offer Halal dishes (massive business niche of 1.5 billion potential customers worldwide). However, you can always find a place that either has Iranian or close to Iranian Chelo Kababs.
In Columbus, "that place" would be Jeddo Kabab, which in my opinion is the finest Iranian (Persian) eatery in Columbus, Ohio. It is a family owned restaurant that is run by a husband and wife team who are both very well educated and emigrated from Iran long ago. The owner actually speaks in six different languages including English, Farsi, Kurdish, Arabic, Romanian, and others. They have the best customer service and are very friendly. The style of the restaurant would be a typical "Iranian Kaboby" or "Kabab Joint". However, it is well decorated and cozy enough to relax after travelling, weekend outing, or if you just want to stop by for some Persian Tea.
Now to the Kababs...I would recommend either the "Kabab Barg" (Sirloin) or the "Kabab Kubideh" (Ground) which comes in all sorts of combinations with rice, salad, etc. My wife's favorite has to be the "Jujeh Kabab" (Chicken Breast), which she normally gets at most Kabobys. Also, if you don't mind the acquired taste of "Dough" (Yogurt Drink or Soda), it is the best way to wash down such tasty Kababs. You can always get Pepsi or Coke (They have glass bottles like back in Iran), but to a Persian the "Dough" is something else.
Another interesting feature is the small Persian food items for sale by the counter; you can pick up your favorite "Lavashak" (Thick Natural Sour Persian Fruit Roll Up) to help digest your heavy Kababs when you go to pay for your lunch or dinner. There are other items for sale as well like Persian rice, herbs, and spices.
If you have not already checked out Jeddo Kabab, I would recommend it as the #1 Persian Food eatery in Columbus if not Ohio. Here is the contact information if you would like to drop by and say "Salam Chetori!" (Hello how are you!). The owner is really friendly and will help you with your food selection:
