iSlider - the perfect iPad stand for travel (Photos)

San Francisco-based Rain Design has come up with yet another impressive state of the art product for Apple gadgets. iSlider is the latest innovation from this award-winning company and described as the “world’s first adjustable pocket stand for iPad." By all accounts, it certainly appears to live up to its billing.

Looking very much like an Apple product, the iSlider is a pocket sized stand, made of anodized aluminum and compatible with both the iPad and the iPad Mini. Weighing just half a pound, the sleek and stylish unit is extremely lightweight and comes with a pocket-sized carry bag, which makes the iSlider a perfect travel companion for iOS devices. The product also comes with two silicon adapters, one for the iPad and iPad with Smart Cover and the other for the iPad with Smart Case. By testing the products support system with a thicker, leather iPad cover, the iSlider still functioned without any difficulty.

iSlider’s unique sliding system can be adjusted from a 15 degree angle to 70 degrees and can be viewed in both portrait or landscape positions, allowing the user to adjust the stand to his or her preference. It’s also quite sturdy and matches up well with any of the other iPad compatible stands on the market today, both in terms of pricing and functionality.

This latest addition to the Rain Design family compliments its other Apple-related accessories, and all exude über coolness, including the award-winning iRest lap stand, the mStand for laptops and the extraordinary iGo minimalist desk. Rain Design first introduced the innovative iGo desk at the 2003 MacWorld San Francisco and became an instant hit, drawing fans, the media and fellow exhibitors to its trade show booth. The iGo, which comes in either a sitting or standing model, was so well received by the press that it was described as “The Best of Mac Expo” by MacAdict magazine and the “Editor’s Pick Award by MacReview Zone.

In subsequent appearances at MacWorld trade show in San Francisco, Rain Design has continued to draw a significant number of attendees to its booth to admire its eye-catching products, with the iSlider unveiled at the most recent MacWorld San Francisco. In a portion of Rain Design's press release for the show, Vice President Aven Koh stated "iSlider is a natural progression for consumers seeking an improved stand design to meet the needs of their daily usage."

At $49.90, the iSlider more than measures up with its competitors, with most priced similarly yet not always portable. The other adjustable stands available in the market are either not constructed well, bulkier or pricier. For this review, this portable and adjustable stand is definitely an improvement in an ever demanding, competitive market and well worth consideration when a consumer is looking for the right iPad stand.
