Every once and a while we are blessed to encounter a restaurant chain where the quality of food and service are always consistently exceptional; Islands Restaurant is one of those places. No matter what location you visit, you are not disappointed and the Vista location is no exception.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The difference is that they are attentive without being intrusive. They attend to your needs without constantly breaking into your conversation. Even if they are busy, you never feel rushed. They all work well together and there is a quiet flow to their serving. Even though they have their sections, they are not territorial. Islands manager, Jeff, is a delight. He is onsite and circulates throughout the restaurant to make sure everyone is being taken care of. This is a unique and welcome touch.
The burgers at Islands are scrumptious and one would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, although most everyone does. They have a brand new burger called the Nalu Nalu. It consists of roasted garlic aioli, provolone cheese, sautéed onion, mixed peppers, hot deli pepper rings and lettuce. It is super messy but so well worth it. Once you have tried this one, your favorite just might have some competition. But there are also the Big Wave, Hawaiian, Point Break and Pipeline. Oh decisions, decisions.
To go with your burger, instead of regular fries, try the sweet potato fries. They are fried to perfection with the outside crispy and the inside tender. The seasoning is just right with a mellow flavor. But if you prefer regular fries, their endless fries are always a winner.
If you’re looking to watch your calorie intake, then the Paradise’s Bikini Beach menu section is for you. Each item contains less than 680 calories but is big in taste. For those 12 and under, the Gremmie menu has a lot of yummy items to choose from.
Be sure to save some room for dessert. A must have is the Chocolate Lava. It is a fudge brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, roasted almonds and a cherry on top. They also have delicious smoothies. Whatever you choose, it will be the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
