It can be difficult getting good feedback on places to stay on a trip whether it be for business, fun or the best of both worlds. Some folks want four-course meals, turn down service and valet, but if you're reading my stories about fly fishing adventures, you'd probably be more interested in a fishing location rather than amenities at a resort. We'll the Drift Lodge located in Island Park Idaho, just about 15 minutes from the West Entrance is for you....great cabins, affordable rates and in the heart of the Golden Triangle of Fly Fishing.
I recently had the chance to stay at the Drift Lodge. Not only did my family enjoy the clean cabin, spacious accommodations and a fully loaded kitchen, but we, particularly myself, enjoyed the fact it is located a couple miles from Henry's Lake, Henry's Fork, the Henry's Lake Outlet, South Fork of the Madison, the Madison River itself, and all the special waters that flow in and out of Yellowstone. What a playground and a centrally located base camp from which to launch your next SE Idaho or YNP adventure.
If you're the type of person that likes to let someone do all the planning for you, the Drift Lodge owners Mike and Jamie have recently added a full service fly shop to the lodge as well as connections to guided fishing and hunting. They also have access to private water.
You'll love the surroundings around the lodge. During our stay we saw moose and deer and the area near the Henry's Outlet had seen a grizzly earlier in the week. Throw in pronghorn and elk in the area, not to mention, gorgeous sunsets and sunrises and you'll have plenty of subjects to take pictures of.
Book a cabin at the Drift Lodge this summer or fall and when you hook into a nice rainbow on or a huge brookie on Henry's, take a photo and share it with others who might like to know where they might be able to hook into a trophy fish and find a great place to call home for a couple days. For more information, contact the Drift Lodge at (208)-558-0152, 4771 N Highway 20 Island Park. ID 83429, firstname.lastname@example.org.
