Freemium games have been available on iPhone for a long time. Your mind may immediately think of Angry Birds or Candy Crush when it comes to such games. Just like Angry Birds or Candy Crush, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood by Glu Mobile is just as addictive.

You start the game as a clothing store associate in Los Angeles, where you happen to meet Kim Kardashian one day. She is so impressed by you that she invites you to a party, and then the ball starts rolling. You start getting a taste of the celebrity life style by hiring an agent and continuing to hang out with Kim. You run into the same problems as celebrities too, such as bad PR and paparazzi. Do not worry, though, Kim is there to guide you along your way to stardom. Kim even has her own unique avatar and is voiced by Kim Kardashian herself.

The gameplay is basic, you get a task, completing the task uses “energy” and “money,” collect experience points and “money” once the task is complete. You are often given decision making tasks, such as, do you spread rumors about another celebrity or do you ignore them? These decisions do affect your popularity in the game.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood tries hard to mimic the lifestyle and problems of a rising celebrity. You can date and dump celebrities, go on photo shoots, increase your wardrobe (you are encouraged to purchase more clothes and change them often), and even interact with people on Twitter.

In-app purchases work much the same as you may have seen in other games. You can purchase more “energy,” which otherwise you have to wait at least an hour before you receive more, “money,” or “K-Stars.” The game “money” is considered the lower level currency and can easily be obtained. The “K-Stars” are harder to get and are usually only received when a milestone is reached.

The game becomes addictive, and fast. You start to become obsessed with changing your hair and outfits, and raising your celebrity status that you might forget that you are not actually a celebrity hanging out with Kim Kardashian. The game is well managed by Glu Mobile and has a unique goal/focus to it. Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is likely going to be topping the charts for a long time.
