Yes, if you don't fish or hunt you might think the annual ISE isn't for you. Yes, if you're squeemish about trophy mounted fish and game you might think the same. My first time at ISE Sacramento it took some time to adjust; then discovered that ISE had many things of interest for an outdoor enthusiast. Not only that, but I ran into many friends from around the state and beyond.
Wear your comfy walking/running shoes. There’s a lot of ground to cover. More than 600 exhibitors. Plus, hands-on special features, contests, 200+ free seminars and demonstrations spread throughout the show's five huge buildings. Displays of bass and sportfishing boats. Guides, outfitters from around the West, Canada, and Mexico. Six hours of fly-tying demonstrations.

Among the many activities there's also a Youth Fair presented by California Inland Fisheries Foundation, California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways. Introduce your kids to the outdoors with interactive and hands-on experiences. The youth fair opens Friday afternoon and continues through the weekend. Everything in the Youth Fair is free, from 18 different organizations. Plus, a rock-climbing wall.
