With Valentine’s Day upon us (we’re already half-way through February?) there is one thing that comes to mind – sweets, and lots of them. This year, when ordering your sweetheart something tasty, or if you just want to stop and grab a nice pick me up, be sure to stop into Sweet Ruminations Custom Cakes and Desserts, located at 228 B York Road, Warminster, PA 18974. You will not be disappointed.
After speaking with Amanda Boutcher about her shop, her experiences and her delicious treats, it is apparent that a customer of Sweet Rumination’s will not only get a delicious treat, but the whole experience. “[When walking into the bakery one can expect] the smell of chocolate, butter cream, and pound cake. Pretty, vintage decor, a friendly atmosphere. Walk-ins are always welcome during business hours, which are, Tuesday through Friday, 10 am - 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm, and no appointments are necessary. The majority of Sweet Ruminations' products are made to order, but there are often individual desserts available for purchase in the case.”
Daily offering can be viewed on the Sweet Ruminations Facebook Page.
“Being involved in the entire dessert process is my favorite thing about owning my own bakery. Getting to know my customers personally and learning from them. Planning, researching, developing, experimenting, sampling. Starting a business by yourself from nothing is definitely a challenge. I’m constantly learning, multitasking, improving and growing on all levels. And being the top decision maker is always nice too,” Amanda says.So why baking? “There’s something very wholesome about scratch baking. So much of modern life is so far removed from the basics; so complicated. I love being involved in the entire creative process. Going to the local dairy farm to pick up a gallon of their heavy cream. Searching for the best local summer berries. Then, taking all the pure ingredients and watching them transform into something deliciously beautiful. Baking and cooking are one of the few creative cycles that simultaneously involve all the senses,” Amanda explains. And Amanda didn’t always bake. She always loved dessert and she always gravitated towards the creative side of life, but she only paired the two together and started baking a few years ago. “I decided if I was going to indulge, it should be a real indulgence. Real Belgian chocolate, real butter, real cream. No strange preservatives or artificial ingredients. Purity and decadence.” And if you have seen her incredible desserts, you know this is true!
Amanda’s inspiration comes from everywhere, she says. “An observer by nature, I've found that the best inspirations are the ones that you naturally absorb somehow along the way, markets, farms, magazines, Pinterest wanderings, travel, cravings, etc.”
The Sweet Ruminations website not only gives a customer background on the shop, the sweets, and Amanda herself, but it also includes a mouth-watering blog where Amanda not only tells her reader’s about new inspirations which helps her create unique and delicious desserts, but also shows her reader’s the desserts through pictures. Again, capturing all of the senses!
Amanda’s favorite Valentine’s Day Treat is anything chocolate, and even has a recommendation for our readers, “My brownies are chocoholic heaven, but I also get lots of requests for my cheesecakes and chocolate mousse cakes.” Amanda would also like to share with our readers that “the general ideas I try to emphasize are: pure, real ingredients made in small batches. Old-fashioned, very personalized customer service with a boutique-feel. Decadence and deliciousness. Highest quality ingredients and products at very reasonable prices, and decorated and designed to match client’s dessert dreams.”
So where will you be shopping this Valentine’s Day? That’s right, Sweet Ruminations Custom Cakes and Desserts. Stop in and see Amanda and take in all of her inspirations and desserts. While it is always best to pre-order, since most of what Sweet Ruminations does is made to order, she will have individual desserts available for sale, for people to get a taste of what she does.
On Valentine’s Day, our readers can expect, French Almond Macaroons, Heart-Shaped Raspberry Linzer Cookies, Belgian Chocolate Brownies, and Chocolate Mousse Cups. Sweet Ruminations are one of the few places in the area that makes French Almond Macaroons, and they now have boxed macaroon gift sets available to order, finished with a beautiful bow.
Well readers, what are you waiting for?
