Breaking out of the pack of the anti-terrorist thriller, Mike Cooper's "Full Ratchet" http://www.amazon.com/Full-Ratchet-Silas-Cade-Thriller/dp/0670025798 stars the heroic Silas Cade, an investigative accountant, who uses his wits and his Sig SauerP226 handgun to get answers.
Now he is in Pennsylvania, subcontracted out by his friend Ryan to investigate Clay Micro, which submitted $10,000,000 in false invoices to its corporate holding company. Cade comes into its corporate headquarters and cows senior management with a series of threats.
Sensing that the Clay Micro job is done, Cade, who spent his childhood in foster homes, also looks up his long lost twin brother. The contrast between the cool ex military Cade and his downhome mechanic brother Dave, who is trying to tap his best friend's Brendt's hot girl friend provides a measure of comic relief, that is not in most thrillers.
Action however, is the mainstay, of thrillers, and "Full Ratchet" does not disappoint.
While visiting Dave, Cade and Dave come under fire from a Russian hit squad of professional killers. Meanwhile Ryan has disappeared and some hot blonde female operative is looking hard for Cade in New York.
Two teams, both hot to get Cade, the action gets intense.
Cade has to survive long enough to enjoy his reunion with his brother, finish his investigative job of Clay Micro and figure out who is out to get him. When he joins up with Harmony, the hot blonde oeprative to investigate, more sparks fly.
Its a fun fast read.
This is one accountant, I will call on again.
