In its eighth consecutive year of entertaining thousands of anime fans, the Japanese animation and pop-culture convention Ikkicon just recently finished its annual three day weekend run from Friday, December 27, to Saturday, December 29, at the The Hilton in Austin, Texas. The convention had its debut in 2006 and has held thousands of attendees which have been progressively increasing with each year. Its source of success comes from the evident amount of effort placed in its programming and scheduling as well as the fantastic and high energy atmosphere. Ikkicon has a vast variety of panels and events for the con-goers to entertain themselves and interact with other attendees. Activities included cosplay oriented games, tabletop and video game tournaments, cosplay workshops, and panels with special guests from the entertainment industry, and photo ops throughout the con.
The thousands of cosers and otakus who attended Ikkicon were not only able to browse through the vast amount of the colorful merchandise booths but also were able to get close and personal with the special guests from the animation, video gaming, and musical industry as well as outstanding cosplayers renowned for their craftsmanship. Special guests who were featured at the convention included Christopher and Greg Ayres, Tia Ballard, and Caitlin Glass. These actors and actresses have been working professionally in television, video gaming, film, and anime industries such as FUNimation, Aniplex, and Sentai Film Works. The panels allows guests to have an intimate experience with their fans and to interact and give them an experience like no other. Tirelessly striving for the best possible experience for its attendees, staff, and guests, Ikkicon has yet again blown all of its attendants away with its dedication towards implementing the best that anime and pop culture has to offer.
