I recently downloaded the FREE Ibotta app for my iPhone (also available on Android as well). This app claims to pay you money to purchase certain items when grocery shopping and I decided to try it out in order to add some money to savings.
The download from the app store was fairly easy and worked just like downloading any other free app would. Once you open up the app you are presented with some grocery items with amounts next to them. When you choose one of the products then you have to complete certain steps to earn money, for example, you may have to like their Facebook fanpage and/or watch a small advertisement about the grocery item.
Once you're done completing what you need to on the app, you then purchase the item when you do your regular grocery shopping. You scan the bar code of the item along with a copy of the receipt into the app, and then the app will pay you out.
The great thing about this program is that it makes it fairly easy to make money because the minimum payout is $5 through Paypal and most offers pay anywhere from $0.25 - $1.00. After one trip to the grocery store, you could accumulate your first $5. If you go grocery shopping once a week and purchase items to make $5 a week buying what you normally would, that could easily accumulate into $240 for your savings account in a year!
Overall, I think that the IBotta app is a great app that rewards you in cash to purchase grocery items and give your opinion on them. Click here for a further in depth tutorial on how to use the app and happy shopping!
