The International Black Film Festival Nashville (IBBFN) presented a special preview screening of an original Black Entertainment Television (BET) movie Gun Hill over the weekend at Regal Cinemas at Opry Mills.
The red carpet event delivered appearances from lead actor in the film Larenz Tate, Reggie Rock Bythewood writer/director for the film, BET Original Programming Executive Tamara Gregory and Music Supervisor Jabari Ali.
Tate is memorable for his roles in films such as: Menace to Society, Love Jones, Dead Presidents, Ray and many more. Reggie Rock Bythewood was a writer/supervising producer for New York Undercover. He also penned the screenplay for Get on the Bus and worked on Biker Boyz, Dancing in September and Notorious to name a few. Jabari delivers powerful original tracks that help build upon the action packed drama film. The music features Antonique Smith best recognized for playing Faith Evans in Notorius. Other artists featured are: Maino, Shire, Gene Noble, and Yummy Bingham.
The two-hour action packed cop drama is sure to have you glued to your seat when it makes it official television debut on July 2, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on BET. The film brilliantly reveals a tragic life-changing story for two identical twins Trane and Bird who seem to fall on separate sides of the tracks in the streets of New York.
As the plot thickens the movie keeps you guessing and thinking until the end as you see an ensemble cast work on all sides of the law and learn that nobody is quite what they seem to be.
After watching the movie, the special guests had a panel Q and A session . They answered questions from the audience, talked about the film and message, the music, revealed some secrets to come and Larenz Tate was presented with a special IBFF Nashville award.
Overall, it was a great event for Nashville and turnout with IBBFN and BET joining forces and I hope they will continue to bring in more BET events in the future. I felt like it was a great film and I'm awaiting to see what happens next with this film.
