There is a fruit in the berry family that consists of vitamins A-E, protein, water, potassium, iron and important calories from fatty acids and carbohydrates. This berry is called the avocado. The avocado originated in Mexico, grows on a tree that is adaptable to all climates and bears once a year. The avocado is also known as the “Alligator Pear” because of its leather like skin and pear like shape. However, there is nothing rough about this fruit as it provides several healthy benefits to our body that makes the skin younger, softer and keeps the immune system running smooth.
Beauty:
We all want a healthy, glowing and blemish-free complexion. Nevertheless, stress, sun and environmental pollution are harmful to our skin and, of course aging plays a part. However, avocados provide high levels of vitamins A which allows the skin to remain supple acting as beta carotene and vitamin E which allows the skin to maintain a glowing complexion acting as antioxidant freeing the body from free-radicals. Avocados are also high in vitamin B which has been characterized by the world’s leading dermatologist as the anti-aging cure. Vitamin B is niacin that allows the skin to remain moist and serve as a skin-lighten agent.
Health:
The vitamin C found in avocados allows the body to maintain a healthy immune system to fight off sickness and absorb higher levels of iron which prevents anemia. The prevention of anemia allows the body to carry sufficient amount of oxygen from the lungs to all the cells in the body countering fatigue and premature aging. Avocados are also very high in Selenium an antioxidant that protects the body against breast cancer, prostate cancer and heart disease.
Fitness:
The vitamin Potassium is found in the avocado, which regulates the body fluids, maintains normal blood pressure and nerve formation. This is important because without proper amount of potassium the muscles in the body are prone to cramping and weakness during exercise. The vitamin Phosphorus found in avocado also keep the body strong, but most importantly Phosphorus is essential for energy production during exercise.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the benefits found in avocados. Avocados are also a high source of enzymes, glutathione, lutein and folat. The fatty acids Linoleic and Oleic acids found in avocado increase the levels of high density lipoprotein (your good cholesterol) and reduce the levels of low density lipoprotein (your bad cholesterol) found in your blood. So, as you can see the avocado also known as the alligator pear is more than just berry. The avocado is the fruit of life, so get some guacamole or an avocado salad and rejuvenate your life.
