A Hot Spring Festival with Berkeley Bay Free Sailboat Rides and Free Dragon Boat Rides: For seniors, adults, kids and families, Berkeley will host an environmental education festival on April 16th, 2011. The healthy, free attendance, outdoor event will highlight Northern California and San Francisco Bay Area’s organizations and opportunities at the Berkeley Marina, 201 University Ave, Berkeley, CA.
The entire event takes place 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Firstly, Shoreline Clean-up will be between 9 A.M.- 11A.M. (a great way to discuss earth-friendly choices with kids and to make new friends during an activity toward fitness). Then between 11A.M.- 5 P.M. you can partake in adventure playground, music, sailboat rides and dragon boat rides. If you’re eco-friendly, if the word Green is a party rather than just a color, if you want to feel that you like recycling, or if you just want your children/ grandchildren a little responsible over their carbon footprints, you’ll feel welcome and earth-friendly warm at the Berkeley Bay Festival.
Overall, you can enjoy the DAY BY THE BAY listening to free music, taking a free sailboat ride, taking a free Dragon boat ride, and enjoying food. Remember to pick up a Passport to the Bay and then get it stamped in each booth when you move from one activity to another. Booths sponsored by the Bay Area’s educational organizations can teach you about exciting local environmental activities for you or your family.
Take the great chance to tour the wonderful new classroom and straw bale visitors’ center. The Berkeley Marina staff work in an environmentally sensitive building. The site was brilliantly built from straw bales as well as recycled and salvaged materials. Explore the Berkeley Marina oceanside walk too!
