Hostel: Part 3

Fans will be disappointed that the third movie in the Hostel franchise is not directed by Eli Roth; instead it’s directed by Scott Spiegel. The movie is about four friends who take a trip to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. They meet two seductive escorts, who take them to a private party on the outskirts of Vegas. However, things take a toll when they are suddenly kidnapped by mysterious men and are forced to be part of a barbarous game show. Unlike the previous installments, Hostel: Part 3 tries to focus more on the story than violence or nudity. The end result is just another mediocre horror film straight-to-video; it lost the excessive violence, gratuitous nudity, and dark humor that made Roth’s films so entertaining. The acting is respectable but nothing worth remembering. This one also lost the element of xenophobia because the Elite Hunting Club in Slovakia slaughtered numerous foreigners for pleasure and this can be a realistic scenario for the audience. The second sequel has failed to incorporate this formula into the film, thus releasing another forgettable horror film. Overall, horror fans should skip this movie unless you have either time to kill or a taste for curiosity.
