For seven Tuesdays this summer, Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley opens up the Flagstaff Deck for Hops on the Hill—a beautiful event featuring food from Glitretind, beers from various local breweries and live music.
Through August 19, 2014, doors open at 5 p.m. with the most amazing early evening views of Deer Valley Resort overlooking Park City. What I like about this event is its informality—shorts are welcomed, friends can gather comfortably and you can even chat with Executive Chef Zane Holmquist of The Glitretind. What’s more, there’s an opportunity to sample a wide variety of our award-winning breweries’ beers without significant investment on your own—which is particularly wonderful when you’re talking about large format, high-point beers like Epic Brewing.
But what fun would beer be without food? Holmquist presides over the food tasting stations with bites developed to match the craft beers being featured for the evening. For example, grilled pretzel bread with red dragon cheese was paired with Epic Brewing’s Sour Apple Saison and Pfeifferhorn Lager at one station and another featured Holmquist’s roasted pork belly and beans with Spiral Jetty IPA.
At 6 p.m. live music begins just off the patio deck and guests can finish their food and beer tasting on the Flagstaff Deck or move to chairs on the grass or deckside near the fire pits. A full bar and an outdoor grill menu are available a la carte if your party desires.
Cost of Hops on the Hill is $35 in advance or $40 at the door. This includes the food tasting, five craft beer tastings of your choice and a souvenir glass, all in one of the most beautiful locations in Deer Valley.
The remaining schedule for Hops on the Hill (brewery and bands) is as follows:
July 22: Uinta Brewing with Mister Sister
July 29: Desert Edge Pub and Brewery with Motherlode Canyon Band
August 5: Red Rock Brewing with Fastback
August 12: Bohemian Brewery & Grill with Marmalade Hill
August 19: Wasatch Pubs & Beers with The Utah County Swillers & Beer Band
Reservations may be made by calling 435-645-6455. Non-alcoholic tickets available for purchase at the door.
