X-Factor Fitness class

This fall we decided to include an organized physical education class into our homeschool. My main reason for doing this was that I felt my son needed more physical activity and several of his friends had joined a local program. Instead of joining someplace local, I decided on the X-Factor fitness program for homeschooled kids at the Yvonne Richardson Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

Why X-Factor

There were several reasons I chose X-Factor. First, several of my son’s friends had joined. The second reason was cost—the Yvonne Richardson Center offers this class for free to all homeschoolers.

You do not have to live in Fayetteville in order to participate. We travel from the Bentonville area and it takes us about 40 minutes to get to the center. When you figure in travel time and gas, it is still cheaper to take the free class than it is to pay a monthly fee for a class that is closer to home.

The class runs one day a week from 10:30 a.m. to noon. We usually hang out afterwards in the playground area.

I found the classes to be well organized. A large number of kids participate and the instructor has no problem keeping the class in control.

My son enjoyed the different activities and he had a good time even on days when his friends were not there. There is a huge range in ages, from elementary school through high school. Boys and girls participate together.

Basic gym clothes are required—sneakers or tennis shoes, sweats or other comfortable clothes.

This is a great class and we plan to attend the next session. My son loved this and he is not easily impressed. When compared to other programs, you get very similar instruction without a monthly fee. I highly recommend this class.
