Holly's manga review: 'Picnic'

See also

“Picnic” is a yaoi manga anthology by Yugi Yamada. The first two stories deal with college roommates Noda and Koreeda. They’re casual acquaintances until Koreeda is dumped by his girlfriend. Noda takes pity on him and as a result, their relationship becomes much deeper. Another story deals with a kid who falls in love with a thief who steals from his ‘clients’ when he has sex with them.

It’s a bummer we don’t actually see the couple go out on a picnic. It would have been really interesting to see what they would’ve done and if they tried to sneak in some sex when there’s nobody around. The other stories are fine with no rape overtones, although some readers may be creeped out by the story with the underwear thief, considering that most sexual predators start out by stealing underwear before moving up to more serious crimes. Honolulu yaoi fans may enjoy “Picnic”.
