“Once Upon a Glashma” is a modern fantasy by Kumiko Suekane. The world has drastically changed since the day the women vanished. Men now have the ability to cast magic. As a result, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication has created a section in the Statistics Bureau to handle the new problems. Nippori and Otanda are government agents monitoring the wizard population. Can they do this and find out what happened to the women?
This series has a pretty good concept that deserved a longer run. It’s also odd why the author decided to get rid of all the women, since the concept of a female free world doesn’t get explored in depth nor is there a lot of homoerotic context. Although to be fair, the women do come back at the end of the story. It would have been better if the story was simply about the world coping with their newfound magic powers. This is a quirky manga that Honolulu fans should take a look.
