“Mail” is a supernatural manga by Housui Yamazaki. Reiji Akiba is a private detective who specializes in cases dealing with the restless dead. He uses a gun called Kagutsuchi, which lays the ghosts to rest. His cases deal with World War II ghosts trying to find their way home to phantom limbs and even a belated commencement ceremony. He also resurrects a dead childhood friend.

The artwork has a nicely realistic feel while still keeping an edge. The stories slowly get better with each passing volume. Two of the most interesting stories have to deal with Reiji. It’s pretty cool that he was given his gun by the friendly spirit of a ghost hunter. The story dealing with his childhood friend is also fun, but the author should’ve explored the interesting ramifications of resurrection. This should have been a long running series. Honolulu ghost manga fans should check it out.
