Holly's manga review: 'La Vie En Rose'

“La Vie En Rose” is a yaoi anthology by Sakurako Yamada. The first story deals with Fujimori, a writer who is suffering from writer’s block. His fans want a sequel to his first romance novel, but what they don’t know is that the story is based on his own feelings towards his best buddy Yoshizumi. He gets help from Shiraishi, who owns a bar. The second story deals with a fan of Fujimori falling in love with Shiraishi, despite the fact that he seems uninterested in pursuing a relationship.

The bar used as a framework for the anthology is a clichés, but it works. It actually would have been interesting if the fans found out about the inspiration for Fujimori’s romance story. It would have made for a great meditation about how life and art affect each other in a very weird symbiosis. Still, the artwork and stories are okay. This is a decent manga for Honolulu yaoi fans.
