“Awaken Forest” is a yaoi by Yuna Aoi. Editor Yoshi meets one of his favorite authors at a book release party, Orito Suga. His younger brother Masato is also attending the party and Yoshi falls in love with him as a result. He is forced to move in with the temperamental Orito. He finds out that Orito’s upcoming novel is actually autobiographical. Can Yoshi find out the truth behind Orito and Masato’s relationship?
The title for the anthology is a bit odd, considering that none of the stories have a plant motif. Still, the artwork is pretty good, although it is chock full of stereotypical looking pretty boys. The idea of Orito using his own life as the basis for a novel is interesting, through the story doesn’t focus on the moral and philosophical implications of writing autobiographical works. Luckily, there aren’t any annoying rape scenes. Honolulu yaoi fans can read it on a rainy day.
