Holly's manga review: 'Alice in the Country of Hearts'

“Alice in the Country of Hearts” is a manga based on the visual novel by Quin Rose. Alice Liddell was a typical young girl until she gets kidnapped by a shape shifting white rabbit named Peter White. He forces her to drink a potion in order to participate in a game. If she spends time with the denizens of Wonderland, the vial will fill up and she may be able to go home. However, Wonderland is a dangerous place that’s embroiled in a civil war. Will she be able to go home?

This is a decent series with enjoyable, if messy artwork. The idea that the denizens of Wonderland have clocks for hearts is a pretty good idea. It also has a wonderfully poignant twist that if their clock breaks and gets repaired, they’ll come back to life as a brand new person. The main problem with the series is that some of Alice’s potential suitors are frankly psychotic, with Peter White and the Mad Hatter as some of the worst offenders. Honolulu manga fans should decide for themselves if they want to buy it or not.
