“A.D. Police” is a manga based on the “Bubblegum Crisis” franchise, by Tony Takezaki. Jeena Malso and Leon McNichol are A.D. Police members who fight renegade boomers. They must deal with a boomer who has developed delusions of grandeur and believes that he is the messiah who will wipe out humanity and create an all-boomer utopia. He gathers a small group of boomers and escapes to Earth in order to enact his plan. Can Jeena and Leon prevent him from succeeding?
This is a lot better than the OAV because there’s little technophobia and no sexism. There is a rape metaphor, but it’s obvious that the writer is on the victim’s side. The villain is pretty entertaining in his delusions of grandeur. The writer should have put in boomers who want equal rights, but despise the villain’s genocidal speciesism and heartless cruelty to his own kind. Honolulu “Bubblegum Crisis” fans should a look.
