Holly's anime review: 'Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works'

“Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works” is a film based on the visual novel. Shiro Emiya was a normal teenager until he was pulled into the Fifth Grail War. Now he, along with his servant Saber, must fight to survive. But Shiro has a very suprising connection with fellow Master Rin’s servant, Archer. What is that secret and what is Archer’s ultimate plan?

This is pretty much a movie for the Archer fans who were bummed that the tv series didn’t focus on his backstory. Still, it’s an enjoyable movie with a lot of action. The compressed storytelling actually makes sense as the viewers have probably already watched the TV show and would want to get quickly to the new storyline and the shocking revelations; although admittedly, some viewers will still be annoyed at the very fast pace. Lance gets an awesome sendoff by killing one of the bad guys even through he’s fatally injured. Honolulu “Fate/Stay Night” fans will enjoy this film.
