Holly's anime review: 'Blood C: The Last Dark'

“Blood C: The Last Dark” is a movie sequel to the TV series “Blood C”. It’s been one year since the events at Ukishima and Fumito has taken over Tokyo. A new bill is passed, restricting the use of the internet and setting a curfew for minors. Saya arrives in Tokyo and meets up with SIRRUT, a resistance group. She reluctantly agrees to help them in order to get her revenge. But will she finally succeed in her goal or will Fumito destroy her?

The movie is pretty good. However, it seems like it should have been made as a second season rather than a movie. Saya should also have been more personally affected by her brainwashing. The writers could have added scenes where she’s torn between continuing her quest to feed upon Elder Bairns and her secret desire to be a happy, normal girl with a circle of friends. The animation is beautiful and the CGI isn’t bad. While the conclusion isn’t completely satisfying, Honolulu CLAMP fans will still enjoy it.
