Holly's anime review: 'Aika R-16: Virgin Mission'

“Aika R-16: Virgin Mission” is a prequel to Agent Aika. Aika Sumeragi has just gotten her C Class Salvaging license and is ready to go on her first adventure. When an official treasure hunting club wants Aika to pilot the submarine for their unofficial expedition, she finds it hard to resist. Aika finds out that Eri wants her to solve the mystery surrounding their fellow classmate Karen. What will Aika discover on her quest?

This is much more energetic, so some viewers may like it more than Agent Aika. It’s a bummer that there wasn’t any new Agent Aika anime that had Aika and Eri meet up as adults. They made a really good duo. The plot is good, but it should have been given a few more episodes to flesh it out. The animation is good, but there are still gratuitous panty shots. Honolulu “Agent Aika” fans will this a fun prequel.
