Hinder and Nonpoint along with Acidic rocked the Westcott Theater (Photos)

The Westcott Theater hosted Acidic, Nonpoint, and Hinder this past Saturday night and the joint was jamming! A full house rocked out from start to finish and got to meet some of the band members at their respective merch tables right after their sets. It was good running into the 95X crew along with a lot of other faces that I have not seen in awhile.

Before the show I met with Elias from Nonpoint out at their tour bus. He talked about the acoustic jam with Hinder over at Quaker Steak & Lube put on by 95X for a selective group and the bands upcoming tour with Hellyeah! and All That Remains, he also almost, ALMOST gave the details on a huge tour announcement coming up with a new band with some big names in it. He said that the band would bring a lot of sweat, energy, and their Indigogo campaign that honestly deals with how little these bands actually are getting paid to do what they do. So go look at these and help the band out! Very cool guy and he was correct! Nonpoint had the crowd jumping, jamming, and screaming all throughout their killer set.

Hinder headlined and the crowd moved along with all of the bands many hits. It is rare that you have a rock band with several Grammy nominations at a show of this size vs. an arena or outdoor festival. These guys are also one cool group and I also had a chance to board their tour bus and chat with drummer Cody Hanson and guitarist Joe 'Blower' Garvey. They also really enjoyed the acoustic set earlier. The past couple weeks have been cold everywhere and we laughed that they got lucky here on a nice day at last in Syracuse (it was around 50*f at 5PM). They laughed and said, “We’ll be in Florida next week!” Nice.

I do want to say that we chatted about a recent interview with one of our own writers about how the album was about singer Austin Winkler’s addiction battle. They were both visibly irritated with what he said and dismissed it as “he ‘f**ked up and ran off at the mouth”. That being said, we cleared the air about that whole issue and moved on. They spoke about the set list and the summer would bring some Fairs, festivals, and the new album. “We are in a unique spot because we are not as heavy as a lot of the rock stations want, but we are not quite ‘pop’ enough for those stations either. So, we are kind of in a weird spot with that.” I assured them that I hear them all the time so, we laughed about some other things, took a couple pictures and it was nearing show time.

Acidic was a pleasant surprise for me as I don’t really know a lot about them but they put on an energetic set and had some of the crowd responding to them and the interactions, keep an ear out for these guys. I chatted with them behind their merch table and they are a really cool bunch of guys with a great sound.

All in all, a great show by all three bands and worth every penny. The theater did a great job and the fans did with really no BS from anyone. Props to 95X on the show and the acoustic deal, the bands enjoyed it. So go check out this tour at every stop, you won’t be disappointed!

Photos were taken for this by Jack Bochino. He has gone from a guy with a camera in the clubs to these awesome shots (with tough lighting for Nonpoint) in a short amount of time. You can find him by clicking here.
