Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Gold is a turn based strategy game developed by New World Computing and published by 3DO. This is the second game in the series. The story follows Lord Ironfist’s victory in the first game, uniting the continent of Enroth. Upon his death, his two sons, Archibald and Reginald, vie for the crown. The real question is should you continue the journey of the series, or leave it behind?
Graphics-The graphics aren’t as cartoony this time around, and the graphics are slightly grittier than before. The creatures are much better looking this time, and the scenery is more alive.
Sound-Hugely improved from the first game. The town music isn’t as stock as before, and the battle music is more energetic, making battle less tiresome.
Gameplay-The gameplay remains the same as before, but now when you level up, you get to choose which skill you can improve. What’s also new is that some of the creatures can be upgraded to stronger, but pricier, units. There are new neutral creatures as well, including the four elementals and medusa, all of which can be recruited. Ghosts can now be recruited this time around as well. There are new buildings and artifacts to discover. Marketplaces make their debut, which makes it useful for players to sell excess resources for gold, and buy resources. The two new factions are the necromancer and wizard factions. Collecting artifacts has more variety this time, as some artifacts can be bought, or earned with the right skill.
Improvements-Everything about this game is improved. From the graphics to the music, this game really did step up from the first game. The new content is also well done, and the new artifacts really add variety to your hero’s stats.
Overall-This game must’ve taken a huge boost of steroids, as this game is a beast, both in content and improvements. This game is worth buying. Be ready to have some fun! The only downside is that not all creatures can be upgraded.
