We visited Heritage for an early dinner on a beautiful sunny spring day in April. The restaurant with its vibrant color exterior and awning give the appearance of an exotic dining venue reminiscent of native india.. We entered the restaurant and were immediately impressed with the rich wooden beams, decorative tile floors, and beautiful bar and dining room. Neil introduced himself and seated us at a comfortable table near the front of the restaurant. Our evening was made more enjoyable by the warmth and professionalism of Priti our young and vivacious staff member.
Neil had arranged a series of traditional tapas type plates of indian specialties. We began our indian culinary journey with:
-a plate of stuffed mushrooms- mushrooms stuffed with cheese, nuts, ginger and cilantro. gently fried and served with a small cup of honey mustard. A great way to start our meal, mild and easy to digest.
-Heritage house salad- Tri-color greens with sun dried tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, onions and beet strips. Beautifully plated. A visual and taste treat.
Neil then brought us an assortment of wonderfully tasty traditional indian bread (Naan)- We sampled Naan rothi- freshly baked flour bread/whole wheat bread. We also enjoyed garlic naan- flavored with garlic and cilantro. Both breads were delicious on their own and perfect for dipping the juices and sauces during the meal.
It was now time for our entrees-
a bowl of rich, "Chicken Makhani"- chicken tikka simmered in a mild tomato sauce- delicious chunks of white chicken meat in a red sauce tasting much like a gourmet tomatoe soup.
Veggie Jalfrezi - An assortment of vegetables- broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes, in a mild cumin sauce.
Basil Garlic Shrimps- Tossed in a mild basil garlic sauce with a touch of white wine- Large, delectable shrimp, deliciously scented and highly enjoyable.
We decided to end our Indian gourmet dinner with two unique, sweet and wonderful desserts:
-Kesari Kheer- an indian version of rice pudding
-Kulfi Plata- Pistachio ice cream- delicious and more in common with Gelato than ice cream.
-We also enjoyed a delicious drink of blended mango and yogurt .
