Friday the 13th has become synonymous with horrifying things. Bad luck and black cats notwithstanding, this day is best represented by Horror flicks. Fans of these types of films will be happy to read that a good one has just arrived Today.
"Here Comes The Devil", newly released on VOD, iTunes, Import DVD and in select Theaters (a Pittsburgh location and a date have yet to be announced), dementedly proffers up a demonic tale of diabolical possession. A slick throwback to 70's shockers that exercises a supernatural theme full of creepy kids, campy laughs, misogynistic sex and spurting blood when a vacationing family's plans are dashed when their preteen son and daughter go missing after an exploratory walk to an ominous cave atop a rocky mountain range.
Of course, they return but, there is definitely something horribly wrong with them. Causing the parents to suffer guilt at not protecting their children properly. From there things start to go downhill even faster, when the parents suspect sexual abuse at the hands of a crazy local. However, we the viewer already know something far more sinister is afoot.
To reveal more will only ruin this entertaining and quickly-paced thrill ride. Though it does suffer from a threadbare plot, over-the-top acting and a complete suspension of disbelief to set-up a supposed twist ending that works better than it has any right to.
So, try to avoid that bad luck and those black cats this Friday the 13th by watching "Here Comes the Devil" in the comfort and the safety of your own home.
