Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Silkening Spray, Strengthening Serum (Review)

Honey, honey, can you make my hair become stronger?

Apparently, Herbal Essences has found a way to make your strands smell sweeter without you being too much of a busy bee. The new Herbal Essences Honey, I'm Strong Silkening Spray is all about your honey armor, helping to strengthen strands against styling damage, and giving them a nice and smooth finish. The ideal part about this light, beautiful looking spray (the packaging is top marks, in our book), is that it can be used on both wet or dry hair.

The new Honey, I'm Strong Strengthening Serum is also another way to help strands stand up to heat damage, and you apply this to wet hair. It's nice and thick (like honey) and is a super-charged serum, filled with honey, jojoba and safflower seed oil. The result is shiny and glossy hair.

The best way to use these is to complement your Honey, I'm Strong Shampoo/ Conditioner routine. Hairstylist Charles Baker Strahan recommends the following tips on everyday hair protection:

  • For very fine hair, spray the Silkening Spray into your hands and emulsify it before you apply it on dry hair. This technique gives you control as to how much you put on your hair without sacrificing volume.
  • If you have color-treated hair, styling tools can often wreak havoc on the cuticle, and the healing power of honey helps to calm the cuticle.
  • You can apply the Silkening Spray to wet hair, and use a wide tooth comb to work it through. This helps the hair get detangled.

We absolutely loved how both the spray and serum felt (the serum was my favorite). Plushly texturized, the serum goes on smoothly onto hair, and a little dollop goes a long way. Be sure to apply the product all the way down to the very last bit of hair, because it is good for brittle hair as well.

The Serum retails for $3.37 and the Silkening Spray for $5.49 at mass retailers nationwide. Strong hair never had a sweeter deal.
