This outrageous fusion of burlesque, LGBTH and rock and roll breaks everything it touches. The wreckage includes the traditional division between performer and audience, the psychosexual rules that contain the individual in the quest for joy and the lines on the map that defy the unification of peoples.
Under Nick Olivero’s direction, the energetic performers fill the house with inescapable hard-driving rock interspersed with sarcastic stand-up comedy. The very live band backs up the several actors who play the manifold aspects of Hedwig’s personality from boyhood to the ordinary, tragic freedom of existence. Joy is where you find it, or not.
The cabaret seating increases the intimacy of the Boxcar theatre. Be prepared to become part of the show.
