“Heaven is for Real” is the true story of a four-year-old boy who came out of a life-saving surgery with amazing stories of a visit to heaven.
A pastor from a small town in Nebraska details the events of what happened during his son’s emergency surgery. The boy almost barely survives and he begins to talk about people he has never met, about Jesus and all sorts of other things he claimed to have seen while in the heavenly realm, and on the way there and back – such as, being able to look down and watch his parents praying for him. They didn't know whether to believe it or not but the details soon became clear.
This is written out by Todd Burpo but there are quite obviously conversations and stories communicated from his son Colton, himself.
“Heaven is for Real” isn't a super long book, but it does pack a punch for sure. At first it was something I wasn't sure I would enjoy as it felt just a bit hyped and hokey. But as I was reading it, it really began to just suck me in. It was powerful and amazing and definitely a book you could read in a few hours since it’s not super lengthy. I do think that the hype is a little overdone but it is still a rather amazing story regardless. Check it out – if you like hearing about afterlife experiences or heaven, or would simply like to hear a story about a child who has a struggle to survive, then you will love this book!
