There are 12 casinos in Atlantic City, nine on the Boardwalk and three in the Marina area. Of the Marina casinos, the first one to open there and still one of the most popular casinos in Atlantic City is Harrah’s Resort. Recently, I had the opportunity to spend the night at Harrah’s as a guest of Caesars Entertainment.
Hararh’s Resort has certainly grown since it opened in November 1980. The original two towers have now grown to five with the Waterfront being the newest addition.
We stayed in a room on the 21st floor of the Bayview Tower. The room was nicely appointed and spotlessly clean, featuring a very comfortable king-size bed, padded chair and ottoman, small sofa, and desk with chair. The TV and refrigerator were contained in a heavy wooden armoire that fit the décor of the room.
The bathroom had both a large stall shower and a deep tub. Two kinds of soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were provided. There was also a hairdryer and a very nice magnifying makeup mirror. In case you need to spruce up your clothes, an iron and ironing board is also provided.
The casino floor is nicely laid out and has a very good selection of slot machines and gaming tables. The seats on the slot machines were comfortable. There is beverage service available by pushing a button on your slot machine and non-smoking areas of the floor are clearly marked.
We had the privilege of seeing a show in Harrah’s Concert Venue, a medium-size theater as Atlantic City showrooms go. It was comfortable seating with good views from most seats. The concert got underway within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time.
Harrah’s is out of the mainstream of Atlantic City activity, but there is plenty to see and do. There are several top notch restaurants. We ate dinner at Dos Caminos, the Mexican restaurant, and it was superb with fine food and great service. We enjoyed breakfast at the Waterfront Buffet, also excellent. You can see a complete list of eateries HERE.
If you forgot something or need a last-minute addition to your favorite outfit, there is plenty of good shopping available in the Waterfront Shops. There is the Destinations gift shop with snacks, amenities and souvenirs to take back home. If you’re in the mood for something elegant, there are two beautiful jewelry stores, Pandora and Park Place Jewelers. Ladies apparel is available at Studio and Studio Shoes, while men can shop at Top Drawer.
Harrah’s is also the Atlantic City home of some of the most unique destinations in Atlantic City, such as the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and the Viking Cooking School.
If it’s night life you’re after, Harrah’s features the hottest night club in Atlantic City, The Pool After Dark. Yes, it’s actually the hotel pool by day. The transformation into this beautiful club is magical, all lush and tropical, as is the entire Waterfront area of the casino. There are also smaller clubs and lounges scattered throughout the property.
Harrah’s may be a bit isolated out in the Marina section of Atlantic City, but you won’t find better accommodations and amenities anywhere in town. However, if you’d like to go into the city proper, there are jitneys and cabs readily available. For those with a Total Rewards card, there is free shuttle service during certain hours.
All in all, Harrah’s is one of the nicest and friendliest properties in town. It has a very loyal following among Atlantic City gaming enthusiasts and it’s easy to see why. Harrah’s offers comfortable rooms, exciting casino action, great food and a simply wonderful Atlantic City experience.
