Hard Rock ABQ Opens New Year With Comic Con!

Happy New Year readers! I hope the new year has been going good for all of you because here in the Duke City, it just looking to get better with an event that will bring lots of action, excitement, and comics?...

The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Albuquerque is proud to host the 2012 Albuquerque Comic Con from January 13th through the 15th in ALL their convention rooms! Every day is promised to be packed with stuff to do whether you play in tourneys for rare cards or bragging rights or just want to check out all the goodies in store for the weekend!

Friday, January 13th kicks off the start of Comic Con and what a start with 3 rooms devoted to card play amongst the gamers in the crowd, the Sunrise Room looks to be having Anime Film Screenings all 3 days of the event, and the Panel Room will be where all the action is! Special guests for the day include: sci-fi writer David Mack; Chaos! Comics owner and creator of numerous female icons such as Lady Death, Brian Pulido; and a special welcome by Brent Spiner more famously known as Lt. Cmdr. Data of Star Trek: The Next Generation and many more! That’s not all! For all the Anime fans, Friday is special indeed because later in the day they will have an Anime Dance and Costume contest and whether you’re participating or just watching, it promises to be an interesting time that’s for sure! And kids under 12 get in FREE all day with a paying adult of course! That’s a great family day in the works right there!

The weekend is jam packed with more to do and many more people to meet! Special guests include but not limited to: Dean Stockwell, Twilight’s Gil Birmingham, True Blood’s Kristen Bauer and Sam Tramwell, and the original Hulk: Lou Ferrigno and many more! There will be many exhibits to see, souvenirs to buy, and also, on Saturday, January 14th from 3 p.m. to 5p.m. ONLY…Jedi Training in the Manzano Room! You read it right, for $10 you can watch as others learn to master the “force” from a REAL Jedi Master or for a “masterly” rate of $100, YOU can participate in the teachings or if you have a VIP Pass, the cost is only $50. Such a high cost but then again, can you really put a price on “feeling the force”? Later on in the Manzano Room, they will have their eagerly attended Super Hero Costume Contest at 6 p.m. which always produces the BEST and most interesting costumes you’ll see this year!

Not ready to leave after the Comic Con excitement has died down for the day? Well, put on your party shoes and get ready for the After Party in the Imbibe nightclub from 9 p.m. to 1a.m. in the Hard Rock! $5 gets you in to one of the newest party spots in the Duke City where you can groove until you can’t move! If you plan on go a little “too wild”, plan to stay in one of the outstanding rooms in the Hotel portion of the Hard Rock and prevent all the DWI madness!

Admission for adults is $15 for a Daily Pass or $30 for an All Event Pass and $5 for Children’s Daily Pass and $10 for All Event Pass. On Friday the 13th, they are running a special for children 12 and under to get in FREE with a paying adult of course! Sounds like a great time for the whole family! So much to do! Too much to see! So get off your keister and head to the Hard Rock where all the action will be!

Time: January 13-15, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the convention part of casino. After Party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Imbibe nightclub also in the casino.

Location: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, just south of Albuquerque on I-25, get off at Exit 215 and take NM-47/Broadway Blvd SE straight to the Hard Rock.
