At the intersection of Avery Road and Post Road is an excellent happy hour at Matt the Miller's Tavern in Dublin. Throughout the week there are three different happy hour related offerings.
- Monday through Friday is a standard happy hour from 4-7 at the bar and 4-6 on the patio. During these times all beers are $1 off, martinis are $5, wines by the glass are $4, and there are selected appetizers for $5.
- Winedown Wednesdays take place all day on Wednesday where wine is offered at the state minimum price per bottle.
- Ladies Night is every Thursday from 4-9 at the bar and features $1 off beer, $3 wine by the glass, $5 martinis, $5 for selected appetizers, and $5 for selected flatbreads.
The libations include 14 beers on tap, over 60 bottled beers, 19 specialty martinis, 68 different wines, and a fully stocked bar. Trust me, there is something here for everyone.
The happy hour food menu is a subset of the dinner appetizer menu and features Loaded Tavern Chips, Pacific Rim Calamari, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and Matt's Sliders. All the food is good, especially the calamari and sliders.
There are 21 seats at the bar and two large tables (that seat 10 people each) adjacent to the bar that are great for larger groups, but get there early to score a table as they are usually in high demand. Behind the bar are 4 large flat screen TVs that provide great viewing at the bar.
The atmosphere is comfortable and casual. The bar, dining area, and restrooms are clean; and the decor is warm and classy. It all adds up to provide a great place to do happy hour in Dublin.
