If you have a chronic puller, this harness is for you! The Halti Harness, made by Company of Animals, is a multi-use body harness that you can hook to the front of the harness and/or the back and is available at Petco in Wilkes-Barre or Scranton and at online retailers. I love this harness and it is currently my most recommended product for dogs who pull.
The Halti Harness has some very nice features. It is well padded so it’s comfortable for your dog. It has a unique attachment from the front D-ring that allows you to clip it to your dog’s collar for added protection. If your dog slips the harness for some reason, you still have your dog attached to the collar. This also allows the placement of the front attachment to not slip or become loose. It comes in three sizes and is highly adjustable, unlike other front-attach harnesses where sizing your dog can be difficult. The best thing about it is that you can attach to the front or the back of the harness so you don’t have to have separate harnesses for your dog and you can switch where you clip on the harness during your walk. For example, if you are walking into a park and need more control you can attach to the front of the harness and when you get to less populated area where you would like your dog to have some freedom to sniff, you can clip it to the back.
It is recommended that the Halti Harness be used with the Halti Leash (which is another great product by Company of Animals). I have used the harness with a regular leash and the Halti Leash with no difficulty.
Some users have stated that this harness is of poor quality and has broke on them. I use it with my Great Pyrenees for walks with my two year old (times when I need more control to keep everyone safe) and I have not run into either of those issues.
Like all harnesses and collars, you should inspect it before any walk to assure it is adjusted to the recommended specifications.
